In a recent article I’ve made a step by step tutorial on how to unlock your iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1 with Gevey Sim.
We all know an iPhone 4 which is unlocked with Gevey Sim is not 100% as an factory unlocked iPhone 4. FaceTime might not work and iMessage as well, but as long as 3G speed is good everything is OK.
This article reffers only to those who have an iPhone 4 that is unlocked with Gevey Sim and have 02.10.04 baseband. So, if you unlocked your iPhone 4 with Gevey Sim on baseband 02.10.04 and you see only one (1) signal bar, don’t worry it’s fixable. Though you can use your device with this ‘issue’ but you might want to know a sign from your signal bars.
This is what you need to do:
Step 1: Pop out the sim card and backup your iPhone 4 content with iTunes!
Step 2: Restore your iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1, but BEWARE! PRESERVE YOUR BASEBAND!!
You can create a custom firmware which keeps your current baseband version, with RedSn0w 0.9.10b1.
Step 3: Go to Cydia and search for UltraSn0w
Step 4: After you install UltraSn0w, insert your sim card togheter with the Gevey Sim and follow the steps as usually.
Now your iPhone 4 unlocked with Gevey Sim on iOS 5.0.1 with 02.10.04 baseband should work properly!

Is there any alternative way to fix this because using ultrasn0w is draning mybattery very fast.
Hi, at this moment there is no other way to resolve this problem. It worked for me and I have no battery draining issues.
There is definetly battery drain issue after installing ultrasnow. Until anyone comes up with better solution you should not install ultrasnow otherwise you will face huge battery problems. My phone drains about 30-40% over night.

Did u installed ultrasnow with gevey sim inserted or blank sim tray?
Blank sim tray, and after you install ultrasn0w (while rebooting) insert the sim with the gevey sim adapter.
so installing ultrasn0w while leaving Gevey out of sim tray will not make the battery drain??

alright guys….. u dont need to restore if u r already on ios 5.0.1 with baseband 2.10.04…. all u need to do is take out the gevey sim then go to reset all network setting (i phone will reboot automatically ) then install untrasn0w frm cydia. insert gevey sim, follow all steps to turn on gevey sim & here u go with full signals…. no more 1 bar will appera on ur iphone… it just worked for me

That’s because Ultrasn0w isnt compatible with iOS 5.1/5.1.1, at the moment.

It will work but you need to preserve your baseband!
After install ultrasn0w, my one bar signal was fixed but i can’t use 3G network. Any solution.

At this moment there is no other way to resolve the 1 signal bar issue. You should try with another version of Gevey Sim

Yeah im facing the same problem. This ultrasnow draining battery issue. I hope there’s a fix with this without installing ultrasnow. Coz we dont really need ultrasnow at the first place, right? So for now I’ll stick with 1 bar signal issue than draining problem. I prefer 1 signal bar but longer life battery. Sad.
Dude, i have iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 bb 02.10.04 jailbroken and I’m using gevey sim. I installed ultrasn0w 1.2.7 and it works, fixed my signal bar issue.
